I’m Meghan Kellem, owner and founder of Refraction. Here’s a glimpse at the many roles I play:
Student. I’m graduating from the University of Alabama, graduating in May 2026. I’ll have my bachelor's in management and marketing, alongside my master's in management. Concentrating in entrepreneurship, I’ve had many opportunities to grow my skills before starting Refraction, from pitch competitions overseas to my current endeavors in the Crimson Entrepreneurship Academy and FuelAL.
Sister. I’m a twin to my best friend, a licensed cosmetologist back in Ohio. In her own way, she runs a business as well, selling herself and her services to potential clients. No doubt she’ll continue to be wildly successful.
Daughter. Neither of my parents are entrepreneurs, but they’ve always been incredibly supportive of me. They’ve instilled a hardworking, problem-solving mindset in me that I continue to use every day as I build my business – thanks, Mom and Dad!
Hard Worker. I’ve held several internships during my time in college, and I’m currently a Marketing Intern at Chick-fil-A in Northport West. I’m no stranger to event planning, and I’m carrying those skills into my newest venture.
Disciple. Through Refraction, I wanted to create a space where people from any background can find a welcoming community, and where those from all walks of life can feel confident, included, and supported. But also - if you hadn’t guessed from the mocktail business and Lord’s chicken - I am a believer in Jesus Christ. I hope that I can continue to create meaningful spaces for everyone in a way that exemplifies God’s love.
Entrepreneur. I’m ecstatic to establish Refraction in the Tuscaloosa community and share my passion for building successful efforts from the ground up. I hope that you will follow this journey and be encouraged by our upscale experience. I'm ready to shed some light on the mocktail industry and shift your perspective.
