Why Refraction?

There are a lot of reasons why people don’t drink alcohol.

Maybe you’ve had one too many at a party with friends but still want to feel like part of the group. Maybe you’re taking a break for Dry January, but the sunday scaries are creeping up. Maybe you’re religious and still want to have a good time.

For me, it was research - scholar after scholar suggesting a link between eating disorders and alcoholism. Even after five years of recovering from anorexia nervosa, my story meant that I had a history of addiction and felt the need to control all aspects of my perfectionist life.

However, control is hard to find when you don’t have social lubricant. So, what could offer community for us all to take the power back in a world where alcohol is prevalent at every outing?

Enter: Refraction. A stylish, upscale bar that highlights the experience and togetherness that drinking provides, sans-alcohol. Whether you’re a regular drinker, or abstain like me, mocktails can be a fun and engaging option that livens up the party.

Refraction is a space for all that and more. Once you watch us mix your drink, you’ll forget that they won’t make you tipsy.

Join us in shifting the scene. Book Refraction today for public and private events.
